…to Woodstock, New Brunswick (Part 2)

Jeremy

Today was all about waiting for Earl.  He finally showed up sometime this morning, and by 5:30pm or so was passed well overhead.  It is starting to dry out now and we have planned our targets for tomorrow.

While we waited today, we abused the hotel bathroom by washing the groundsheets for the tent along with our boots and whatever else we could find that shouldn’t really be cleaned inside.  I couldn’t get the bike in the door though, so it’s still covered in bugs for the most part.

Once the rain stopped, we decided to see if Woodstock had anything to offer, so we headed down to the St. John river waterfront and had dinner at the Riverside Pub.  It looks closed from the outside, but that’s just to scare away the tourists.  They actually have a fair selection of pub fare, and it wasn’t too bad, either.  After dinner, we walked across the old railway bridge and snapped a few shots of the river.

On the way back to the hotel, we stopped to see why someone would paint a house black, and it happened to be a historic site.  Turns out this is the oldest town in New Brunswick, and the black house used to be a stagecoach stop back in the day when stagecoaches needed such things.

We’re just hanging out here doing some laundry and getting ready for Maine tomorrow.

Oh, Jenny wants me to mention the breakfast feeding frenzy here at the hotel this morning.  You’ve all seen it.  Just gather 50 of your closest relatives in the same room and start handing out free food.  It’ll be chaos, guaranteed.  We managed to get some scraps and get out before going completely deaf, and retreated to the safety of our room for a much needed nap.
