…to Bend, Oregon

jenny

Time to hit the road again.  Sacramento was amazing and so were our hosts.  Thanks again, Chris and Stacey!  And Mico and Sophie too!

We prepared ourselves mentally for a long day of riding.  We had 700 kilometres to cover to make it to our planned stop for the night – Bend, Oregon.  We stopped in Willows, California for a rest and a quick breakfast and then we were off again, driving through miles and miles of olive tree orchards.  The billboards advertising olive-tastings and freshly-pressed olive oil in Corning almost lured us away from our route, but we resisted and told ourselves we would be back someday for an olive orchard tour.  We also saw another kiddy pool on the highway!  Third one of the trip!  This one was just a plain, blue pool.  No cartoon characters.  It did have the built-in slide, though!

We drove for several hours on the Dalles-California Highway and Oregon’s Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway.  We had blue skies mixed with gray clouds most of the way, but we did not get rained on at all today.  Yeah!  No need to stop and put on the saunas.

We pulled into Bend around 6:30 PM, tired but happy to have made our goal for the evening.  We found a room at the Red Lion Hotel.  Jeremy wrangled with the desk clerk for quite awhile but got an excellent rate on a very nice room.  Koira gave it her seal of approval by falling straight to sleep on the bed . . . after checking the room thoroughly for little white dogs.  Nope, none under the bed or in the bathroom.  Ahhhh . . . safe.

    Hi Jenny & Jeremy
Looks like you are having another great trip … I don’t know where you pick up all these out of the way places to visit, but sure looks like fun (minus the rain of course) Safe trip home|

Hi guys! You’re in the town where they make Be-bop Biscotti! I bought some last wintere here in Ottawa and it was amazing!! I haven’t been able to find it anywhere since. If you have the chance, treat yourself to some.
